One of the lawyers representing the insurance companies against the claims of the policy-holders was the prominent Black barrister, Hector A Joseph. He became the second Jamaican K.C. in 1911, and was the Attorney-General in British Guiana from the mid-1920s to the mid-1930s.

This page will deal with the issues involved in the cases concerning Jamaicans and the various insurance companies.
